Purpose & Goals

The purpose of the workshop is to assess the current status of free-ranging swine diseases in a One Health context and explore disease management options (including limitations) in both domestic and global free-ranging swine and boar populations.

The workshop goals are to establish working relationships with international experts on feral swine ecology and epidemiology that can be leveraged through projects initiated through the USDA APHIS National Feral Swine Program and produce a publication for the OIE that integrates free-ranging swine disease status and management options to identify critical information needs, knowledge gaps and aid the operational implementation of a disease control program.
