International Connections
Veterinary Drug Formulary Available in Georgian and Russian
In 2009, APHI researchers, Drs. Katie Steneroden and Ed Wydallis traveled to the Republic of Georgia to observe the practice of veterinary medicine and conduct a needs assessment for veterinary training. Local veterinarians needed information on drugs, dosages and indications for use. Hence the idea was born of putting together a concise, useful Veterinary Drug Formulary and translating it into Georgian. Since the common language of all the former Soviet countries is Russian, it has now been translated into Russian.
In meeting colleagues from all over the world, Ed and Katie are particularly interested in comparing systems of food animal production with an eye towards learning about and improving on current systems. They hope the Veterinary Drug Formulary will be useful in that regard.
Dr. Ed Wydallis is a graduate of Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. He and his wife Kathy, and daughter Dr. Jessica Wydallis, have a large animal veterinary practice in Wellington, Colorado. Dr. Katie Steneroden is currently the Deputy Director of the Livestock Innovation Lab for Adapting Livestock Systems to Climate Change at Colorado State University.
